Hope for golf club’s water worries

PROSERPINE Golf Club is living on borrowed time.

Club president Ross Meade and administration assistant Trish McNeill have been campaigning for two and a half years to increase the club's meagre seven megalitre water allocation.

While a temporary year-long 150 megalitre water allocation was granted to the club in November, without a permanent solution, the club will have to close.

Last week, Whitsunday MP Jason Costigan had a "productive" meeting with State Minister for Natural Resources and Mines DrAnthony Lynham to discuss the issue.

"While we don't see eye to eye on many things, and never will, we're certainly on the same page, I think, when it comes to under-standing the importance of the Proserpine Golf Club to our local community," MrCostigan said.

Mr Meade and Ms McNeill will seek an update from Mr Costigan during a meeting scheduled for August 24.
