Hottest 100 prediction: Taylor Swift will make the cut

TAYLOR Swift is likely to make it into Triple J's Hottest 100 but she's won't take out the top spot according to a new social media survey.

The Social Hottest 100 estimates Swift's Shake It Off will come in at No 75 thanks to a viral campaign to get the pop star into the traditionally indie listener poll.

The results, posted on Twitter today, are a tally of the 20,000 votes shared publicly by Triple J listeners on social media.

The man behind the Twitter account is 34-year-old former computer sciences student Michael George, who says he's confident about his predictions, particularly the Top 10.

George told APN he backed Peking Duk's High, the current favourite to win, before the final results were tallied.

"By complete stroke of luck I already thought High could win and bookmakers listed it at a higher price than I expected, so I've backed that and if it does get No 1 I'll be a happy man," he said via email.

Melbourne's Chet Faker is tipped to have four songs in the Hottest 100 including Talk Is Cheap at No 2 and 1998 at No 3.

Mark Ronson's catchy hit Uptown Funk, featuring Bruno Mars, is predicted to just scrape into the Top 10.

But Swift might be disqualified from the Hottest 100 after KFC started a Facebook competition including the #taylorforhottest100 hashtag, according to a former Triple J presenter.

Swift hand-picked last year's Hottest 100 winner Vance Joy to be her support act on the upcoming North American and Australia legs of her The 1989 World Tour.

The 25-year-old is also good friends with last year's Hottest 100 runner-up, Kiwi singer Lorde.

Swift is known for paying close attention to her fans on social media - she has more than 50 million Twitter followers - but has so far remained silent on the campaign to get Shake It Off into the Hottest 100.

The Hottest 100 results will be announced in a live, on-air countdown on Monday.
