House fire suspicious

POLICE were called to a house fire on Main Street in Proserpine on Friday night and are currently treating the cause of the fire as suspicious.

Queensland Fire and Rescue Services were called to the scene at 6.20pm but upon arrival the vacant home was fully ablaze.

Fire-fighters had the blaze under control within 20 minutes but later returned to the scene after the fire reignited around 11pm but was extinguished immediately.

Emergency services isolated the home as the fire caused significant damage and as a result was deemed structurally unsafe.

Investigations are continuing.
