House Rules' Ben and Danielle: 'anything is better'

NEWLYWEDS Ben and Danielle believe any change to their '70s brick home will be a good one.

Their fellow House Rules teams have spent the past week renovating their Brisbane home, which they've affectionately dubbed the "ski chalet" for its timber-clad walls and antlers hanging in the lounge room.

The final results will be revealed on tonight's show.

Danielle, 31, said she didn't mind relinquishing control of her "forever house".

"Surprisingly, I was so happy to give away those keys," she told APN.

"Anything is better than what we had.

"It's been weird seeing our house on camera. It looks way worse than I thought it was… I look at it and go 'Oh, that's embarrassing'."

But during their week off, the Queensland couple had their doubts about what the teams could accomplish in their split-level home.

"It was nice to sleep but we were still being interviewed. The producers were asking questions like 'Would you want an orange wall?' and would you hate this and that. You start to question everything," Danielle said.

The town planner, who has aspirations to become an artist, hopes the other teams were able to interpret her "preppy eclectic" house rule.

"It's hard because you can't have a paragraph, you know? You've got to figure out your style in a few words," she said.

"I think if you Google 'preppy' and then 'eclectic' separately, then you figure it out. What I meant was a little Ralph Lauren style with old and new things; not tacky old things, but really funky, unique things. How do you explain that?"

House Rules airs tonight at 7pm on Channel 7.

3. Make our entry quiet, but showy

4. Retain a hint of ski-chalet in the living room

5. Give us a dressing room to die for
