Huge music line-up
A HUGE Original Sundays session is planned for Magnums Hotel this weekend, with eight acts keeping the beer garden buzzing for nine hours.
Organiser Andrew Pattinson said this was the Original Sundays' best line-up.
"The Whitsunday is very blessed with a great pool of talented musicians," he said.
"The response from all the musicians and fans to the original music has been amazing.
"We have so many acts wanting to play, it's hard to fit them all in."
This Original Sundays features Kieran McCarthy, Nadene Allan, Brad "Mango" Martyn, Graham Rix, The Swine Club, 4 String Phil, Jarrah Kurth and Chris Booroff, plus headline act Sun Salute, nearly all of whom are on this year's Airlie Beach Festival of Music line-up.
Kieran McCarthy, the original "original", kicks off the day from 1pm, with Nadene Allan, who is known for her deep bluesy sound and big voice, taking over from 1.30pm.
Brad "Mango" Martyn is well known in Airlie Beach but makes his first appearance for Original Sundays to unveil never-before-heard originals.
Another newcomer to the Whitsundays with a great voice, Graham Rix, will also debut his originals.
Jarrah Kurth and Chris Booroff, who are usually the drummer and trumpet player for Sun Salute, will team up to present new original reggae roots music.
Hamilton Island band The Swine Club will be stepping up the pace with their island rock styles, and all the way from Tasmania, 4 String Phil will get the place pumping with his unique four-string sound and foot-stomping drum beats.
Finally, Sun Salute will kick off their reggae, roots and funk set from 6pm until late.
The Airlie Beach Festival of Music ambassadors will also hold their first meeting at the gig.
Music fans will have a chance to win a lucky door prize, a three-day ticket to the Airlie Beach Festival of Music valued at $245, just by attending the event. The festival kicks off on November 5.
