Hundreds gather to farewell Michael 'Huck' Hornby
MICHAEL 'Huck' Hornby loved nothing better than a hug.
So it was only fitting that half-way through his funeral service, everyone was asked to give someone one.
After losing someone like Huck, everyone needed comfort - especially his beautiful girls Kaitlyn and Alice who were the love of his life.
Michael Hornby was best known on the Sunshine Coast for his road safety campaign after losing his beautiful twin angels Grace and Jessica, aged five, in a car crash in Woombye in 2009.
But the packed chapel at Gregson and Weight in Buderim was testimony to the fact that he touched so many in his short 43 years and seven months before cancer claimed him.
He was remembered by former school mates as a terrible footballer, by his new partner as a lousy handyman, and by everyone for his silliness, including hugging anyone and everyone.
But most importantly he was remembered as someone who loved people - who in turn loved him for his big smile, his character, honesty, integrity and never say die attitude.

I love loving you
Keep smiling
Live each day like it's your last
Never go to sleep angry
Never say fart only pop-off
You've got to put it out there otherwise you'll never know

Despite life dishing up more than most of us would ever cope with, Michael Hornby always managed a smile and an encouraging word as he loved to share a beer.
