Information night set to help transitions into high school
WHITSUNDAY Christian College will be hosting a 'middle phase' information night on Wednesday, November 5.
The evening will take place at the Whitsunday Christian College's hall from 7-8pm and strives to provide families in the Whitsunday region a chance to learn more about the range of educational programs offered at the college as students move through the first years of secondary school.
The night will include a presentation outlining what is on offer in years seven to nine in 2015 at the Whitsunday Christian College and will finish with a delicious supper courtesy of the college.
Whitsunday Christian College principal Nathan McDonald said the information night was an opportunity for locals, whether they have children attending the college or not, to experience "the difference" at Whitsunday Christian College.
"This information session will acknowledge questions and queries from parents or guardians or anyone concerned with the recently introduced high school grade, Year 7.
"Next year as other high schools take on their first year seven students, Whitsunday Christian College will be commencing its third year of providing this group of students with a quality secondary educational program comprising of 15 subjects provided over the course of the year, well-equipped facilities, great resources and strong pastoral care," he said.
Mr McDonald said that already, the college was experiencing a greater level of enrolment interest for Year 7 and was planning on having two Year 7 classes in 2015.
He said the evening would also be beneficial for families with students going into Year 9, who would be required to make subject selections for the electives on offer in 2015.
