Instameet images draw global audience to Hamo

AN ECLECTIC group of social media-savvy competition winners joined Australian fashion, business, food, TV, sport and radio personalities in the Whitsundays for Hamilton Island's Ultimate Instameet: Return2Paradise, held last weekend.

Model and TV presenter Rebecca Judd (@becjudd), world swimming champion Michael Klim (@michaelklim1) and Home and Away actress and model Samara Weaving (@samweaving) were among the celebrities who attended the event.

Ms Judd said she was particularly excited about finally being able to visit qualia, the island's premium luxury resort.

"This gorgeous destination has always been high on my wish list and to be able to visit it as part of an Instameet adds a whole new dimension," she said.

Boasting a combined Instagram following of over 200,000 fans, the Instameet group followed an itinerary that showcased the best of the island's food, sights and experiences and also included Whitsunday icons such as Whitehaven Beach.

Hamilton Island's senior communications manager Sophie Baker said the images that were captured and shared by the group throughout the Instameet were able to reach hundreds of millions of social media users in Australia, the United Kingdom, China, and beyond.

"By credibly tapping into the power of social influence and the vast networks of these well-known Instagrammers, we're able to promote Hamilton Island to a much broader, connected and socially-savvy audience who like to emulate the experiences of those around them," Ms Baker said.
