Island reefs yielding mackerel and jewfish
Islands
THE islands have been fishing well with reports of coral trout around the fringing reefs around the islands, sweetlip have also been in good numbers.
Some Spanish mackerel have been turning up but numbers haven't been the greatest but still worth hanging a livie out the back while having a bottom fish.
Tuna schools have been showing up around the place but numbers are thinning with good reports from around the Molle Islands.
Jewfish have been reported around the deeper holes around the islands.
Creeks and rivers
PROSERPINE river has been fishing well for anglers using live baits around the lower parts of the creeks.
There have been a lot of crabs in the river which will only get better as the rain keeps going.
Small coastal creeks have also been fishing well with mangrove jack and bream being the best species to chase.
They are also getting some very big crabs around the smaller coastal creeks.
Prawns have been around in most rivers and should be running even better with the recent rain flushing them out of the creeks.
Rockwalls
THE Rockwalls have been the place to fish with good reports of mangrove jacks and barramundi being caught using live baits and lures around the rockwalls.
The sailing club has been the best place to catch a barra with the VMR being a good choice as well.
There are also grunter being caught around Port of Airlie using prawns or fresh fillet baits on the rising tide.

Dingo Beach/ Hydeaway Bay
IT”S GOOD to have the rain.
We definitely need it, especially out here in the Dingo-Hydeaway region, but it hasn't made things real comfy out on the water.
Lucky there has been a bit of action around to make up for it.
Out around the outer islands there has been plenty of bait around and feeding on it there has been good numbers of tuna.
Mostly mac tuna though, the longtails have been hard to find as mac tuna are being fussy on what lures they'll eat at the moment.
I am having the best success on good old chrome slugs.
About 40 grams is the weight to throw at the moment, anything bigger or smaller is getting refused.
Good numbers of coral trout have been biting but right up in the shallows.
Most of the fish have been coming out of three to five metres of water with unweighted pilchards drifted under the boat being the most successful ploy.
Up in the creeks the recent rains have stirred the prawns up and it has been good to see people coming home with nice catches of these tasty morsels.
