Islands falter as river builds
ISLANDS
The weather isn't looking too good for the islands this week, with 15 knot plus winds forecast.
The best bet is to stay in close around the islands and the edge of the reefs.
Target your coral trout using soft plastics.
There have been some big longtail tuna around the islands this week, up around the 10kg plus mark.
ROCKWALLS
The Shute Harbour wharf is still getting some nice queenfish, along with a couple of trout.
Squid have also started to show up in the harbour.

RIVER
This weekend should see some good tides for the river.
There have been reports of some good barramundi being caught on live mullet on McPherson's Bend and further up river.
There have also been reports of good quality crabs being caught.
Threadfin salmon have been reported at the river mouth feeding on jelly prawns.
Try targeting them using live prawns or live mullet.
DAM
The dam has slowed down over the past week, with these colder mornings and windy conditions.
However, a few fish are being caught late in the afternoon and into the night up on the shallow weed beds using soft plastics and surface lures.
There are still a few reports of barra being trolled up in the main basin.
Red claw have been very patchy due to the dropping water conditions.

REEF
Excellent signs for the months ahead, with some good spanish mackerel being taken over the past week.
The week leading to the new moon is always the best time to target these fish and some mackerel up to 25kg among the smaller school-size fish have been taken.
Some good size GTs also have been caught on surface poppers casting to the pressure points of the reef edges.
Coral trout and red throat emperor are making up the bulk of the catches, with the bigger tides related to the new moon.
This coming week the tides will ease making the reef fishing over the deeper shoals the place to be.
