Town’s cheeky nod to iconic biscuit

Let's face it, there are few things Aussies enjoy more than Tim Tams - they're an Australian icon, our favourite treat and frankly something we're all very proud of in a nation that's otherwise lacking in its own cuisine.

Thankfully, one Aussie town is going above and beyond to ensure the famed biscuits receive the credit they deserve on their national day of celebration.

Today, for one day only, Tamworth is renaming itself to Tim Tamworth to honour the treat that has long served our great country.

The Country Music Capital of Australia has changed its name to celebrate Australia's most loved biscuit.

To celebrate the renaming of the country city, Arnott's will paint the town (Arnott's) red, with new town signage, fete-style games, and a day full of Tim Tam Slam celebrations.

Marketing Manager for Tim Tam, Matt Grant said "we are so excited to celebrate National Tim Tam Day with Tamworth's diehard Tim Tam fans!"

"For us, National Tim Tam Day is all about celebrating the people who have helped make Tim Tam Australia's favourite chocolate biscuit."

"We hope the people in Tamworth and the rest of Australia use the day to reconnect with each other over a Tim Tam Slam of course," Mr Grant said.

Tim Tam Slams are a new version of the iconic biscuits, specially designed to create the ultimate flavour sensation, according to Arnott's.

Slams hit shelves earlier this month and lucky locals of the new town of Tim Tamworth will have to chance to indulge in all the chocolatey goodness they provide today.

What a day to be alive.

The internal structure of the new biscuits has been designed with a gooey core to create a flavour explosion.

Tamworth Region Mayor, Col Murray was quick to jump on the biscuit bandwagon, sharing his warm views on the snack and his excitement of the Tim Tam takeover in his town.

"Arnott's has been a staple in Australian pantries for generations, and we look forward to joining in the fun and unique festivities of National Tim Tam Day in Tamworth," he said last week.

The new range of Tim Tam Slams comes in three delicious flavours; Choc Malt & Sticky Caramel, Choc Hazelnut & Gooey Caramel and Dark Choc & Sticky Raspberry and they're each designed with a gooey core to create a flavour explosion when dipped in a good old cup of tea.

Happy Tim Tam day, Aussies.
