It's not over yet for Nyrie

"IT'S like you're sort of living on borrowed time” - those of the words of Nyrie Contor, who is currently in a severe battle with stage four breast cancer.

The disease has now spread to her bones after being diagnosed in 2012 while pregnant with her twins.

After three years of hoping the worst part was over and thinking she may just be in the clear, in February she found out the disease had spread rapidly and it now looks to be terminal.

But sister Vhari Kelly is determined to make sure she does everything she can to give Nyrie a few more beautiful memories by setting up a fundraising auction that begins today.

"I wanted to help her with monetary funds to help with some of the medical costs as she's always having to go for scans and check-ups,” she said.

"We're also helping her enjoy her life with a young family. She's like to do nice things for them and it's hard with all the medical costs involved. We want her to enjoy her life.”

Nyrie said she wanted people to know that breast cancer can also affect men and younger women.

"I was under 40 when I was diagnosed. It's important to be aware of your body, even if people aren't sure, they need to be proactive for themselves, and make sure they go and get themselves checked,” she said.

"Hopefully I've got lots of years yet but you just don't know. That's cancer, it has a mind of its own.

"I'd just like to tick things off the bucket list and make some more memories. That's what it's all about.”

Running from today until December 18, the auction features prizes that range from two nights at BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort in a Deluxe Studio, to a night in a Coral Spa Suite at Coral Sea Resort and many more.
