Jessica a true leader and role model
THERE is a long list of reasons why Jessica Muller is the 2016 Proserpine State High School Student of the Year.
The 2016 school captain participated in an extensive range of extra-curricular activities, investing her time in the high school concert band and numerous community events.
Outside of school, Jessica does dancing lessons, which combined with study commitments, leaves little spare time.
But Jessica said she never missed an opportunity to support the local community.
"I have done a lot during my schooling years, I met all my expectations and as school captain this year I put myself out there as a leader and a role model,” she said.
"I just love doing things and putting out my time for others and this all contributes to becoming student of the year.”
Jessica singled out her successful achievements in the Proserpine State High School instrumental program as her proudest school memory.
"I've been really passionate about the instrumental music program, I just love playing the flute and the band is a very good atmosphere.”
"I met so many new friends and like-minded people that wanted to come together at school.”
In addition to student of the year, Jessica won the Instrumental Music Award, reflective of her status as a virtuoso flute soloist.
Jessica's future is also looking bright.
"My plan is to go to university in Townsville. I applied for physiotherapy and hopefully I will get in.”
"My sister is up there so I will have friendly face to be with.”
Jessica's advice to students looking to follow her footsteps into leadership positions is to not hold back and get involved with every opportunity to contribute.
