Jetty Beach closed after shark sightings

JETTY Beach has been closed to swimming after several sharks were reportedly spotted in the water yesterday and this morning. 

The request was made by the Water Police and the NSW Department of Primary Industries, who are investigating several reported shark sightings.

Coffs Harbour City Council has installed warning signs on the beach.

Beachgoers are being urged to go to Park Beach, which is Lifeguard patrolled 9am-4pm every day.

Locals yesterday claimed discarded fish frames thrown into the harbour by fisherman from a nearby fish cleaning table had attracted the sharks.

Investigations are underway into the matter.
