Jodie's natural attraction

JODIE Price has always been interested in photography, but somehow real life got in the way of her pursuing it as a career.

The Mount Coolum wife, mum and teacher's aide didn't have much time to indulge the passion she developed in her early 20s.

Two decades later, living on the Sunshine Coast has nurtured her creative ability once again.

Surrounded by nature at its best, she found she couldn't stop taking photographs.

"In the last year or so, I've been really interested in capturing the beauty of the Sunshine Coast," she said.

Then her hubby, Rick, bought her a wonderful surprise: a decent camera.

And her hobby is quickly becoming serious business.

She's been given the opportunity to display her striking photographs at various outlets across the Sunshine Coast.

Thanks to word of mouth, she's been able to sell quite a few.

"I take my camera in the car wherever I go," she said.

"I'm self-taught. I haven't done any courses, but I'm looking at doing a photography course next year."

Mudjimba's Loaded Lizard cafe has allowed her to display her works inside and the colourful prints have received plenty of comments.

She's also experimented using a Perspex medium, with great effect.

"My photos are enlarged and put on high-quality paper and put on to Perspex. It looks like glass," she said.

She's found going out on her own a "bit nerve-wracking", but positive comments keep her motivated with "everyone telling me that they really like them".
