Junior clinics great for all skill levels
JUNIOR RUGBY UNION
YOUNG rugby union players from across the Whitsundays were put through their paces on the weekend by the Whitsunday Raiders head coach Hemi Taukiri.
Players aged nine and over were eligible for the free clinics run at the Whitsunday Sports Park by the Sucrogen Whitsunday Junior Rugby Club.
The clinics are for both new players and more experienced children with coaching tailored to teach the basics to beginners while also refining the skills of returning players.
The weekly sessions will continue to run every Sunday from 10am-midday under Taukiri and will double as selection trials for Raiders representative teams in the under-13, 14 and 15 age divisions.
In July the Tieri Queensland Junior Rugby Muster is on and the Raiders are looking to discover talented players to compete in the state-wide junior rugby competition.
Anyone requiring more information on junior rugby in the Whitsundays should contact club president Sharron Pratt on 0403 318 866.
