JUNIOR CRICKET

WITH the footy season now over it is time to bring out the bat and ball for the 2013/14 Proserpine junior cricket season.

Junior cricket will return to the Kelsey Creek sports ground this Friday afternoon for more Twenty20 action from 4pm.

The Proserpine Junior Cricket Club will have a mixed program for the up-coming season.

Some of the highlights will include the inter-town challenge games against Bowen, Friday afternoon Twenty20 games and a trial two-day game format.

The club is hoping to run games for under-10s, under 12s, under-14s and under 16s.

Club president Brett Hansen said it was rewarding seeing young players improve their skills throughout the season and challenge their Bowen rivals.

"This season we hope to develop our local competition a little more and send the challenge out to not only Bowen but possibly one of the northern Mackay clubs," he said.

The registration fee for junior cricket is $85 which includes a shirt and cap.

The Proserpine Cricket Club will again run the Have A Go and Have A Game mini cricket games.

The Have a Go cricket format is aimed at boys and girls from five to seven years and the Have A Game format for boys and girls from seven to nine years.

The registration fee for the Have a Go and Have A Game cricket is $80 which includes a backpack filled with a bat, ball, shirt, cap and other accessories.

Anyone interested in signing up for the cricket season can do so at the Kelsey Creek sports ground this Friday afternoon from 4-6pm.
