Junior rugby league game postponed
PROSERPINE-Whitsunday junior rugby league players will have to wait another week to kick-off their 2011 campaign after round one fixtures were postponed due to grounds being unfit for play.
Despite this, junior rugby league players took to Les Stagg Oval for the first time in 2011 last weekend.
Players in the under 12s, 13s and 15s side's put on the green and blue Brahmans jersey for their respective trial matches against Bowen and Moranbah.
The under 12s side took on Bowen with eight new players in the side who joined the Brahmans following the clubs ‘Come and Try' day held two weeks ago.
Unfortunately the side were defeated and the under 13s side suffered the same fate when they were beaten in a tight clash with Moranbah.
The Brahmans under 15s side proved to be the only winners on the day, convincingly beating their Moranbah rivals.
President Bob Dwyer said it was a great day had by all players and spectators.
“There were some really good games of football on display,” he said.
“It was good for the kids to have a hit out before the season starts.”
