Juniors make club proud in carnival
RUGBY LEAGUE: Last weekend the under-11 Brahmans travelled to Townsville for the annual Laurie Spina Shield U11 carnival.
In a strong showing, they were able to win all six of their pool games and earn their way through to the quarter finals.
Unfortunately they couldn't get past Brisbane's Albany Creek Crushers losing 16-8.
Stacey Bernett travelled with the team and said they met up with some former junior Brahmans - Sam Foster and Reece Martin.
"They played really well and achieved outstanding results," she said.
The carnival is played in Townsville every year and this year welcomed 64 teams to the competition.
The two-day carnival is co-ordinated by the North Queensland Cowboys and open to any players under 11 years of age.
As part of the Cowboys effort to get younger kids involved in football there is a focus on participation and sportsmanship.
It was the 20th anniversary of the competition with teams coming from as far as Brisbane, Darwin and Adelaide.
Mackay Magpies Black beat Innisfail Cowboys 16-4 in the grand final.
