KARATE: A whopping 79 students from Proserpine and Cannonvale went for new gradings last month.

Whitsunday Kyokushin Karate Club's Cannonvale dojo hosted three gradings on November 20-21, with all students passing with flying colours.

"All the students that participated put in a lot of hard work," the club's Belinda Woodham said.

"They have to be ready technically and physically.

"With our style they don't normally go for a grading unless they are well and truly ready."

The gradings were highlighted by a handful of students who went for their brown, green and higher belts - marking more than seven years of training.

While the training year has ended for Whitsunday Kyokushin Karate Club, eyes are already looking to next year, with teachers keen to travel interstate for important meets in Melbourne and Sydney.
