KC’s to rock through June

GREAT acts are lined up for the month of June at one of Airlie's most popular venues - KC's Bar and Grill.

KC's co-owner Peter Chengody has some names locals will love queuing up to take the stage, including Aaron Saxon, Kieran McCarthy, Pete Bek and the ever-popular Mark & Serena from Mackay.

The Fox duo will be back too; and latest new local talent, youngster Harry Wall, will be making his KC's debut on Wednesday, June 15.

Rounding the month off are the out-of-town touring gigs, with Pop Standen & Friends, Jason Bull, Dean Gray, Damon Stone, King Pin, the Dog Gone South duo, Innocent Eve's and Melbourne's Brian Fraser all in the mix.

"POP (Prince of Promises) Standen & Friends is the big gig of the month, he has a very strong following in the Whitsundays and at KC's," Mr Chengody said

"We also have Jason Bull from Melbourne, who has developed a very strong following (in the Whitsundays and beyond) over the years. He has being coming up for close to a decade now. He is very popular."

As for the pick of the local favourites, Mr Chengody said Kieran McCarthy would be extremely popular.

"He is a household name and has probably played over a 1000 gigs at KC' in his time," he said, adding "Kieran McCarthy and KC's are one and the same".

The man himself, Kieran McCarthy, said he always enjoyed the atmosphere the staff and patrons created at KC's.

"It has got a nice intimate atmosphere so you can be close to the audience," he said.

"The venue is a good place to do a lot of your own material in as well."

Mr Chengody said up-and-coming talent the young Harry Wall would also be one to watch.

"He is only a kid, but everyone speaks very highly of him," he said.

Entry to KC's is free.
