LNP member says Qld election a huge wake-up call

THE Queensland election result is a huge wake-up call for the LNP, at both a state and federal level, according to Flynn MP Ken O'Dowd.

"There's going to be a lot of soul searching," he said.

"But I can see where the mistakes were made. Anna Bligh's government got chucked out through the sale of assets - that shows it's unpalatable with voters.

"And it wasn't sold properly. I still haven't seen any figures.

"If I was going to buy a new truck, I'd want to know how much it was going to cost, how much my trade-in would be and then I'd make a decision.

"That's not what's happened here - the voters haven't got any idea what the figures were with assets."

He said governments needed to explain themselves properly to gain respect.

The fact  the LNP had a number of agencies working against it didn't help the cause, he said.

"It was a bit like six against one, with all of the other parties and people like Alan Jones working against the government. That stuff sticks.

"After losing Victoria and now Queensland, you'd have to wonder how the LNP will fare in the New South Wales state election."
