Killer still not caught

TODAY marks 100 days since Shandee Blackburn was murdered.

It also signifies 100 days that her killer has gone unpunished.

And 100 days that her family has had to grapple to make sense of her tragic death.

The 23-year-old was walking home from work when she was struck down and violently stabbed to death early on February 9.

Since then Shandee's family and police have been working tirelessly to bring her killer to justice.

Mackay Crime Investigation Branch officer in charge Detective Senior Sergeant Rodd Carroll said the investigation was progressing in a positive direction.

"Information from the public continues to come in and there are still active leads being pursued," Det Snr Sgt Carroll said.

Every homicide was poignant to investigators, he said, but Shandee's murder was "more so because of the circumstances surrounding it - being a 23-year-old girl, walking home from work".

"As a police organisation our driving goal is to bring justice to Shandee and the community and bring some sort of closure or rational to the family."

Det Snr Sgt Carroll said there was a contingent of CIB investigators and a contingent from the Brisbane homicide squad dedicated to the case.

"That won't change until there's a result," he said.

Shandee's mother Vicki Blackburn will mark today as she does every day - grieving for her daughter.

Mrs Blackburn said she had confidence in the police investigation and was pleased with its progress.

Police were keeping her informed.
