Kiwis take lead in series after thrilling victory

KANE Williamson and Luke Ronchi (pictured) were the heroes as New Zealand chased down Sri Lanka's 276 in Nelson to move 2-1 ahead in the seven-game one-day international series.

Williamson held the innings together with 103 off 107 balls as his team lost early wickets.

The New Zealand batsmen benefited from their bowlers' performance at the death.

Mitchell McClenaghan, Tim Southee and Corey Anderson conceded just 65 runs in the last 10 overs and took six wickets after 37-year-olds Kumar Sangakkara (76 from 83 balls) and Mahela Jayawardene (94 off 82) looked like getting the visitors past 300.
