Ladies, it’s time to check your breasts

REGULAR health checks are key in the prevention of life threatening illnesses and this is especially so for breast cancer.

BreastScreen Queensland's Mobile Screening Bus will visit Proserpine and Cannonvale in June and July for women to have a free mammogram.

Clinical Director Dr Helen Archibald said nine out of 10 women diagnosed with breast cancer did not have a family history and she noted there was no need to put off getting checked.

"It's quick, simple, convenient, free and a doctor's referral is not required," she said.

"It doesn't take long and it could be 15 to 20 minutes that saves your life."

The bus will be at Proserpine Hospital from Thursday, June 16 to Wednesday, July 13 from 8am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday.

A Saturday clinic will be available on Saturday, July 2, from 8.30am to 3.30pm.

The bus will be in Cannonvale at the Whitsunday Plaza Shopping Centre from Monday, July 18 to Thursday, August 11 and a Saturday clinic will be held on July 23, from 8am to 3.30pm. To book a free BreastScreen appointment call 13 20 50.
