LOCAL music lovers have just two days to beat the close of the second round of early bird tickets for Wintermoon.

The Wintermoon music festival, at Cameron's Pocket, mid-way between the Whitsundays and Mackay, has been a popular event on the region's social calendar since 1996.

Held on what was formerly the May public holiday long weekend, the festival has built a reputation for attracting a high calibre of musicians, as well as audiences from near and far.

With its exciting mix of soloists, duos and bands, playing on multiple stages, Wintermoon always offers a diverse cross section of musical styles to satisfy all tastes.

Acts already listed for this year's festival from April 30-May 3, include the Round Mountain Girls, Sun Salute and Hillbilly Goats.

Wintermoon is of course, not just about the performers on its main stages. The ever-popular Fish Jam stage provides the perfect venue for blackboard concerts, music workshops, songwriter sessions and youth programs to tempt aspiring performers.

Add to this mix a number of interesting market stalls, craft and lifestyle workshops, a variety of tasty foods, the cooler May weather, a beautiful creek-side location and friendly organisers, and the ingredients are all there for a great weekend.

This year's event will start on the Thursday evening, running through to the Sunday night.

Festival-goers will have the choice of three main camping grounds - at St Helen's Creek, inside the Wintermoon grounds and at the new Top Camp.

Campers are welcome to set up a week before the festival or to take advantage of a new camping option of tent hire.

The second early bird ticketing period up to February 28, has great prices for four-day festival and camping tickets and for the Friday and Saturday night options. The popularity of this small personal festival makes pre-booking for camping sites important.
