Leap year twins turning two
LIV and Meika Stewart only celebrate their birthdays once every four years.
Born on February 29, the leap year twins this week celebrated their second birthday in eight years.
The girls invited 36 of their friends to help celebrate at their home, where they had a Hawaiian themed party.
"We had a dance off then played a game in the pool. We had a really special birthday cake as well," Liv said. "We were given some toys and lots of stuff for our hair, and some scratch art kits," Meika said.
The two girls share a passion for art and have also recently taken up horse riding.
They are also looking forward to their upcoming trip to America where they're going to visit Disneyland.
Their mother, Narelle, said it was always special when they celebrated their birthday.
"They are technically two years old, even though they are eight. It's just very special for them.
"We're also adopting a new dog which is part of their birthday present, and they're really looking forward to meeting him," she said.
"Whenever we fill out forms there's never a February 29 option. It's funny, the girls enjoy having a special birthday."
The next birthday the girls will celebrate will be their third birthday when they are 12 years old, in 2020.
"We only celebrate their birthdays every four years, but when we do it's always huge," Narelle said.
