Off leash area
TO THIS day I cannot see why the council has a dedicated off leash area, next to Cannonvale State School, as it appears that anyone walking along the esplanade and board walk use this whole area as off leash. I run with my dog (on a leash at all times) along this area and on three occasions of late I have experienced incidents with dogs who are not leashed, ready to attack my dog. At the most recent case, I told the owner what leashes were for and I was verbally abused. I'm guessing that when the term "Off leash" is used they are actually talking about the owners. Come on, consider other dog owners and your own dog. Be responsible and leash your dog so you have that peace of mind that your dog is under control at all times, unless you are using the dedicated off leash area. Don't leave yourself open to having your dog tagged with the label of a dangerous dog, not to mention expensive vet bills and litigation. A dog on a leash cannot be held accountable for defending itself against another that is not leashed and running free in a leashed area.
