Library creates artists

PROSERPINE Library is helping local kids beat school holiday boredom with arts and crafts.

The kids got hands on, using recycled materials to create their masterpieces.

Proserpine Library assistant Nadine Donadelli, who ran the crafts sessions, said it was a way for the kids to express themselves and learn about recycling at the same time.

"We were just trying to use what we had here to show the kids you can make something nice out of nothing," she said.

The kids used recycled CDs and old wool to create their art.

"Those were all used CDs and the wool we just had lying around," Ms Donadelli said.

"It just shows the kids you can make something beautiful from something old."

The library has one more free activity before the kids head back to school, with a screening of Mr Popper's Penguins (G, 90mins) on Thursday, July 9 from

10am.

Free popcorn is included.
