Lifestyle video goes viral

THE Whitsundays was well and truly on the social media map last week after a video promoting the area went viral, attracting more than 70,000 views.

The video endorsing the Whitsundays as an ideal living and investment destination went live on December 5, greeted by a wealth of internet traffic on Facebook.

Local business owners Mark Beale (Ray White), Rodney Emerick (Mulgowie Farms) and Bianca Burgess (Le Sorelle Coffee House) are featured in the short clip, with imagery to show the diversity and opportunity of the greater Whitsundays area.

Whitsundays Marketing and Development general manager operations and economic development, Denise Kreymborg, was thrilled with the response to the video, which took about a month to make.

"We are very excited that so many people have viewed this video which aims to attract people to our region to live, work, learn and invest," Ms Kreymborg said.

"The Facebook audience has connected with this

video which tells a very real story about what it is like for people who work in agriculture, tourism and small business, and what it is like to start a family or grow up in the Whitsundays," she said.

"The viral success of this

video has made the Whitsundays front of mind for people looking to relocate."

WMDL developed the video in collaboration with the Queensland Government and launched it at the 2015 Regions Queensland Expo in Brisbane.

WMDL has used the video as a direct promotional tool to showcase the Whitsundays.
