Lions camp a huge success
THIS year's International Youth Exchange Camp welcomed a large group of 40 youth from 17 countries to Camp Kanga.
Now in its 20th year, the youth camp is still as popular as ever with numbers continuing to grow.
The youth experienced one day at Peter Faust Dam for activities, a Whitsunday Crocodile Safari, two days at Camp Kanga for activities, one day in Bowen and another in Airlie Beach from where they went Ocean Rafting and did bush dancing before their final dinner on Friday, July 29.
"I was very pleased to see a fine week for our visiting youth," camp director, Damien Mott said.
"I would also like to thank the support of several local businesses for their help and assistance with this year's camp including Fausts Supa IGA, BCF Cannonvale, Bunnings Warehouse, Bowen and Gumlu Farmers Association and Lamberts Fruit Market of Townsville."
Every year Lions hold a Youth Exchange Family Hosting program in early July for three weeks.
Mr Mott said Lions Youth Exchange Hosting was a unique program and encouraged families to get involved.
"Male and female youth aged 16 to 21 visit from all around the world for the program and everyone involved has had a blast doing it," he said.
