RACING INTO NEW YEAR: Emerald Jockey Club promises a night of action for New Year's Eve.
RACING INTO NEW YEAR: Emerald Jockey Club promises a night of action for New Year's Eve. John Skinner

IT'S LIGHTS camera action on December 31 at Pioneer Park, where the Emerald Jockey Club will telecast the meeting via live streaming on Facebook country racing page On the Bit.

The live telecast of country non Tab racing has been successfully pioneered by race callers Rob Luck and Andrew Watts and the western teams technical support guru Ayden Birch in recent weeks, at the Central West on Blackall Cup Day in November and the Barcaldine Christmas races.

The race day coverage has included mounting yard coverage, pre-race and live footage of the races on the program and post race interviews with the winning connections.

Emerald Jockey Club president Leon Roberts has decided to pick the ball up and run with it, along with Pioneer Park race caller Scotty Power and Matty Peters.

Matty is the man behind the creation of the page.

He oversees the country racing Facebook page On the Bit, which regularly includes country racing news and plenty of racing information.

Matty Peters and his wife Kristy are strong country racing supporters.

Kristy is the Emerald Jockey Club secretary and she said the club had organised all the logistics to make the live telecast as professional as possible.

They have backdrops and props with the On the Bit logo which will be utilised during the telecast.

Kristy's husband Matty is also a jockey manager with several leading country jockeys on his books, including Pietro Romeo and boom apprentice Nathan Fazackerly.

Matty's team of jockeys have been a godsend for trainers in Central Queensland country areas.

His services are being used far and wide and the once tricky difficult job of obtaining a jockey is now much easier for trainers.

The jockey ranks are depleted in Queensland and in recent times it was a task to obtain their services but Matty's hard work and dedication to band together a strong team of hoops has been embraced.

The racing action heads to Callaghan Park in Rockhampton, where Glenda Bell lines up with three runners, Halfblood Prince in race two, La Juliette in race three, and Ossenhagen in race five.
