UPDATE: The home crowd was like a sixth player on the court according to both Mackay teams who are through to the next round of play-offs.

Meteorettes' Micaela Cocks was especially excited to return to The Crater after a couple of weeks away.

"We have been talking it all week knowing the stadium was going to be packed," she said.

"This is what we play for, we have been working all season for finals."

The Meteorettes just missed out on a home game next weekend after Logan Thunder defeated Brisbane yesterday afternoon.

Meteorettes' coach Carl Teske said no matter where they played they would be ready after Saturday night's win.    "The players dug deep in the second half and showed they could play dirty," he said.

"It was an ugly win, we showed what we can do and now we move forward."

The first half was a free-flowing game that went shot for shot. "It turned into an ugly battle in the second half," Teske said.

But Cocks said it was good to get the win like that. "Because come finals, each game is going to be tight, so it's good practice," she said.

UPDATE: The Global Product Search Meteorettes have made it through to the semi finals after their four-point win over Ipswich Force.

The Meteorettes were ahead by a couple of points all game until the third quarter when scores locked at 58 all.

A fatigued Force side found it hard to stay in the game and the Meteorettes ran away with it.

They will now be watching the result of the Brisbane Spartans and Logan Thunder game closely to see who and where they will play next weekend.

  • The Global Product Search Meteorettes defeated Ipswich Force 78-74.

INITIAL: Many Mackay Basketball fans missed out on tickets to tonight's sell out quarter final.

Keep up to date with scores here.

The Global Product Search Meteorettes will take on Ipswich Force at 6pm.

The Meteorettes currently sit third on the ladder while the Force six sixth.

Then the Mackay McDonald's Meteors will play Logan Thunder at 8pm.

The Meteors dropped to second spot on the ladder at the last minute while Thunder sit seventh.

Although Thunder were the team to put a stop to the Meteors' winning streak back in round eight.
