Local groups benefit from charitable fund

ALMOST $70,000 was donated to various local charities and community groups by the Macrossan and Amiet Charitable Foundation last week.

Autism Queensland received $30,000, the largest donation for 2013.

Other major donations included Proserpine Homes for Aged Person Society ($8872) and the Kidney Support Network ($6000).

In addition to these there was a donation of $10,000 to the Proserpine Public Kindergarten, which was a culmination of a five year pledge by the foundation to the Kindergarten's Buildings Fund.

Trustee Jeffrey Ruddell was proud to announce that the distribution totalled $69,584.75, and was possible because capital in the fund now exceeds $1million.

He said it was pleasing to be able to support 15 different cases, including $1000 to the Collinsville Community Association, which was the first time they had been requested to provide a donation in that area.

Since the inception of the foundation a total of $342,553.85 has been distributed to various worthy causes. "For a lot of small organisations and charities in the region it is often difficult to raise funds for projects or to continue to fund their good work within our community and the foundation provides a worthwhile contribution to filling that gap," Mr Ruddell said.
