Local lady sews for all the right reasons
JUBILEE Pocket seamstress Tina Everett will have an assortment of homemade creations at Cannonvale State School's fete this weekend.
Ms Everett has donated children's twirl skirts, dresses, birdwings and cushions as raffle prizes and will be selling dolls clothing at the community craft stall on Saturday from 10am-2pm.
She has always been passionate about children and hopes the community can get behind her, helping spread the word as she raises funds for not only Cannonvale State School at this weekend's fete but the Proserpine Hospital through personal projects.
"Children are the heart of the Whitsundays, they are the future, we need to treat them well as they are the ones who will look after us as we age," she said.
In 2004 she started designing and creating dolls clothing which she sold via eBay to help fund her personal treatment of IVF before being blessed with a son in 2008. She now creates a variety of children's clothing, toys and accessories and is often asked to donate to different charities and causes.
"I like to raise money that can benefit a large number of children regardless of race, religion or financial status."
"I love seeing children smile, and watching my friends' girls test twirl these skirts and dresses helped remind me of the reason I like to sew," she said.
She believes that schools and hospitals are major bodies that could always benefit from more community support.
"Sadly schools and hospitals just don't receive enough funding so they need our help which is why I decided Cannonvale State School and the Proserpine Hospital would benefit from my sewing," she said.
