Local rider makes mark

BMX

ABOUT 2600 competitors made their way to the Australian Championships in Shepparton, Victoria.

Peter Little on bike number 66 took out two third places in 14-year-old races.

The 14-year-old competitors from all over Australia took to the track on Saturday with a 66-rider field, but Peter was smooth and controlled on his 20-inch bike.

He then backed it up on Sunday in a hot field of 54 on his 24-inch bike.

Peter returns to the Proserpine Club with the best result ever by a local rider.

Vernon Dries and Dean Dries also both rode well but were unlucky to draw the hot heats.

The next Australian Titles will be back in warmer climes with Cairns hosting the 2011event.

Meanwhile, all Proserpine riders are training hard for the North Queensland Titles being held at Proserpine in June and then the Queensland Titles in Mackay in September.
