MANY women wouldn't dream of shaving off their hair but Cannonvale resident Pauline Redpath is willing to face the clippers to help raise funds as part of the Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave.

Ms Redpath lost her father to Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) five years ago and has made it her mission to raise at least $1000 for the cause this year.

"He passed away within three months of diagnosis and the World's Greatest Shave is something I have always wanted to do," she said.

"I can't wait to go through with it. I may regret it afterwards but at the moment I'm focused on raising as much as I can."

Ms Redpath will be saying goodbye to her hair at the Reef Gateway's World's Greatest Shave event to be held on Saturday, March 15 from 1-3pm.

Among the others jumping on board and shaving their head in support of the Leukaemia Foundation is mother and daughter team of Denise and Dakota Hadley.

Ms Hadley is principal of Deejay's School of Dance in Proserpine and has been busy fundraising over the past couple of weeks after agreeing to take on the shave with her daughter.

"Our family has been lucky in that cancer hasn't directly affected us and these funds will help to find a cure so that Dakota and her generation don't have to deal with it," she said.

They will be facing the clippers together in their own World's Greatest Shave event at Deejay's School of Dance on March 15 from 6pm.

The event is open to community members with a disco for the kids and sausage sizzle to celebrate.
