STUDENTS of Cannonvale State School made a splash at their annual swimming carnival held at the school's 25m pool on Friday, April 4.
Year's 1 to 3 enjoyed a day of participation and fun on Thursday, while the senior students (years 4-7) stepped up the competition on Friday.
All students picked up points for their sporting houses of the Macona Marlins, Henning Hawks, Haselwood Hornets or Nara Piranhas in the 25m participation events.
Those wanting to be in the running for age champion competed in all four strokes of butterfly, freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke over 50m.
Health and Physical Education (HPE) teacher Peter Smith said all students showed excellent sportsmanship throughout the carnival.
"The whole carnival has been fantastic and I want to commend all students for their high level of participation across the events," he said.
"It was great to see the kids having fun in the pool and it was the perfect way to see out the school term."
A major highlight of the carnival was the teachers verse students 50m relay race.
One of the two teachers' teams in the highly anticipated event had their eyes on the prize and showed no mercy to take a very convincing lead early on in the race.
While the students staged an epic comeback swim, the teachers proved they had more gas in the tank to take out the title.
Smith said the teachers' relay teams blasted the competition and put out the challenge for all students to step it up next year.
The winning house and age champions will be announced after the Easter holidays on the second parade of school term.
