Locals in Central rep Qld team

AUSSIE RULES: The Whitsunday Sea Eagles A-grade mens ventured down to take on Bakers Creek on Saturday.

Missing a number of players it was always going to be a tough ask.

A good start gave the Sea Eagles a chance but with a couple of injures Bakers Creek where able to kick away in the last quarter to secure victory.

Brett Gale, Scott Lee and Ryan Dempsey stood out in the midfield, while James Polglase kicked four goals in his first game for the club. The Sea Eagles are at home this Saturday taking on Moranbah.

North Queensland Academy Championship 2016 - On June 11-13 the under-14 Mackay representative team took on four other teams from North Queensland in the AFL Queensland Academy Championship. The best players from around North Queensland were given the opportunity to show off their skills over the three days.

Unfortunately the Mackay team were unable to take out a win over their four games but they did have seven of the team named in the Central Queensland team to compete in the Queensland Academy trials in September.

Local boys Ethan Boyle, Max Steel and Jaden Clark from the Whitsunday Sea Eagles were named in the Central Queensland team.

Under-14s - The U14s took on top ladder leaders Sarina Demons but went down 3.3.21 to 8.4.52. The Sea Eagles never gave up but with depleted numbers due to injury and unavailability they were out-classed. They also thanked the U12s who played to make up the numbers. Best on the day were Lachie Draper, Cooper Ogden, Max Steel, Darcy Warren and Levi Turner.

Under 12s - The U12s travelled to Etwell Park to play Pioneer Power in an epic. Pioneer 6.2.38 just beat Whitsunday 4.11.35. Aiden Fanke kicked four goals, while the Costello twins were fantastic in defence. Best on ground player went to Noah Staton. Coach Steve Macgregor was pleased with the team's performance.
