Lock them up or set ‘em free

RON Petterson, along with other well-known locals, will be locked in 'jail' this Saturday for PCYC's Time4Kids fundraiser.

Chairman of the PCYC and Division 2 councillor, Mr Petterson said he looked forward to the event which was held every year at the Whitsunday Plaza.

"The principle behind it is we get people who are well known locally and we set up a mock jail at the vicinity outside Woolies," he said.

"People such as councillors or business owners get locked up and the objective for them is to raise bail money to get out."

Police officers will bring the 'detainees' to their cell and from there, the public can donate money to keep them locked up or bail them out.

Locals can nominate who they want their donations to go towards by choosing a 'detainee'.

Cr Petterson said donations would go to a great cause in the community.

"Every cent raised on Saturday goes to our local PCYC," he said.

"The money is used to help pay for programs and activities so it's going to be really good."
