Man fined for ripping off toilet doors, cracking bowls

BENJAMIN Luke Ross was caught out in a senseless bout of destruction when the 24-year-old vandal broke doors of three toilet cubicles beneath Gladstone Entertainment and Convention Centre.

Cracks were also left in two ceramic toilet bowls.

In a letter to Gladstone Magistrates Court, Ross pleaded guilty to causing wilful damage to the men's toilets at 6.30pm on May 3.

Prosecutor Sgt Pepi Gangemi said witnesses from nearby Lightbox wine bar who heard the loud banging noises went inside and saw Ross swinging off a toilet door.

Ross then ran away but CCTV footage showed him entering the men's toilet.

Sgt Gangemi said the toilet doors had been ripped from off their hinges.

Magistrate Jeffrey Clarke fined Ross $300 and recorded a conviction against him.
