Losing locks for cancer

HER nephew died of leukaemia, so did her two brothers-in-law and a third is suffering from the disease.

This is reason enough for Proserpine local Edith Forse to rid her head of hair and go under the blades this month when the Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave gets under way.

Ms Forse has a long standing association with the Proserpine State High School and its students and Ms Force's great-great-nephew Jesse Gatton will be taking care of the shaving honours.

Already Ms Forse has raised $980 in less than two weeks.

Ms Forse said before her nephew died he and his family were regular visitors to the Leukaemia Foundation supported accommodation in Brisbane.

She said the support role and the research arm of the foundation was critical in the fight against the blood disease.

"A donation of $526 will keep a family at the units for a week,” she said.

To make a donation, simply go to the Leukaemia Foundation website and click on Edith Forse's name.
