LOTTO WIN: Search for mystery millionaire in Bay

THE Hervey Bay region has a new mystery millionaire, after an unknown shopper won $1 million in Wednesday night's lotto.

The winning entry, purchased at Nextra Fraser Gateway Newsagency, was one of the two division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 3789, on Wednesday.

As the entry was unregistered, Golden Casket has no way to contact the winner.

Staff at the newsagency have urged customers to check their tickets.

It's the second time in 11 months the newsagency has sold a division one winning entry and is the seventh major prize in the Wide Bay-Burnett region this year.

Newsagency owner Chris McKechnie said she was thrilled to see another winning entry through the store.

"It wasn't long ago that we sold a massive $30 million Oz Lotto division one winning entry so we are hoping perhaps it is third time lucky tonight for the big Powerball jackpot," Ms McKechnie said.

"Good luck to them! What an amazing win!"

Golden Casket spokeswoman Bronnie Spencer said the division-one-winning entry was not registered to a Winners Circle card, so the identity of the winner was a true mystery.

"If you bought a ticket in last night's Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw, we urge you to check it now!

"You could be our mystery division one winner!

"If you discover you are holding the division one winning ticket, contact Golden Casket on 131 868 to begin the process of claiming your prize."
