‘Mad Hatters’ to come together for tea
Grab your best hat and show off your style for the Proserpine Chamber of Commerce Biggest Morning Tea.
The chamber will hold the event at the Proserpine Entertainment Centre on June 21, to raise funds for the Cancer Council.
Chamber secretary Karen Vloedmans said this year the chamber decided on a 'Mad Hatter' theme to generate more interest.
"This year we decided to put a little slant on it and make it a Mad Hatter's theme, so we encourage everyone to come along and wear a hat," she said.
Ms Vloedmans said with one in two people affected by cancer either directly or indirectly, the annual fundraiser touched many people's lives.
"Even in our own community, we all know people who have been touched in some way by cancer," she said.
"And it's amazing what even the smallest donation can do to help someone going through it."
Last year, the chamber raised $3500 and Ms Vloedmans said she hoped to raise even more this year.
"Every cent raised will be donated directly to the Cancer Council and we really want people to come along and support it," she said.
"It's open to everybody in the community and you don't need to be a chamber member or a business member to join in."
Tickets are $12 each and can be purchased from the Proserpine Entertainment Centre.
The ticket price includes a hot cuppa, morning tea plate and a ticket for the lucky door prize.
