Magnums revamp to be finished in time for new year

ONE of the Airlie Beach's most prominent backpacker hotels is freshening up its complex just before the party season really begins.

Renovations started last Monday for Magnums Hotel with the club part of the building scheduled to re-open this Friday.

The make-over includes new lighting and decor for the nightclub as well as a polished concrete floor. It also comprises a newly carpeted and repainted gaming room and a fresh coat of paint to the beer garden's exterior.

Magnums' venue manager Jason Hickmott said he decided to renovate because it was time to re-invest to the local community.

"It will encourage all the locals to come back through and pay a visit to one of the most famous beer gardens in Airlie and Australia," he said.

The revamped look will be completed in time for one of Magnums busiest time of the year - the hotel will be hosting epic New Years parties - one of them starring Australian DJ Will Sparks.
