Magnums turns pink to fundraise
AFTER raising about $15,000 last year, staff and management at Airlie Beach's Magnums Hotel have the ambitious goal of reaching $30,000 this year for the PA Research Foundation for breast cancer research.
Magnums venue support officer Robyn Ward said the staff had put a lot of work into this year's fundraising efforts, which of course are all themed 'pink' and will include a special 'Pink Party' on June 24.
"We (even) have special pink shirts that we will be wearing on the night," she said.
Ms Ward said some great items had been donated by the community for the charity auction to be held at 10pm on the night of the party and forming part of the event.
"We will be auctioning off a Live at your Local double pass, which is a 12 month pass to all ticketed events at Magnums Hotel," she said.
"We also have two tickets to the Airlie Beach Festival of Music, a Cruise Whitsundays Camira trip for two and a tour with Whitsunday Crocodile Safari."
Mrs Ward said the Pink Party would have a drinks special with $2 from every Rekorderlig drink sold going to charity.
The winner of the "name our duck competition" will also be announced on the night.
Music will be courtesy of The Fox and Sun Salute, who will be playing from 3pm on the Boardwalk.
