Man charged over break-in spree

A QUEENSLAND man has been charged over a spree of break-ins at banks, service stations and other businesses on the Gold Coast.

The 39-year-old from Upper Coomera was arrested on Thursday and charged with 12 counts of enter premises and commit an indictable offence, four counts of enter premises with intent, three counts of attempted enter premises, eight charges of wilful damage and three of attempted stealing.

One of his offences include an attack at a bank in Tugun on May 7.

He was remanded in police custody overnight and was due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Friday. 

Police have alleged the offences occurred between December 24 last year and Wednesday this week.

In January, detectives began an investigation into a number of break-ins and theft or attempted theft from ATMs across the region. 

On Thursday, the executed a search warrant at Con-Brio Blvd, Upper Coomera home where the man was taken into custody. 

Police investigations into the incidents are ongoing.
