Man charged with wilful damage after incident in Bowen

BOWEN police have arrested a 23-year-old man after an incident occurred at a unit complex carpark in Williams St, Bowen.  

The incident occurred about 12.50am today.

It is alleged that the 23-year-old man was present in the car park with another male standing close to a parked boat.  

The owner of the boat approached the two men and a minor verbal dispute occurred.

The 23-year-old man has allegedly ran and kicked the boat owners unit security screen door causing damage, resulting in Bowen police being called.

On the arrival of police, everyone present was spoken to and the 23-year-old man was arrested.

During the course of the arrest occurring, it's alleged he has attempted unsuccessfully to escape from officers.

The male has been charged with wilful and unlawful damage (security screen door), obstructing police and also wilful and unlawful damage of police property (watch-house camera system).

He will appear at the Bowen Magistrates Court on February 2, 2016 to have the matters heard.
