Murder charge follows island stabbing

A MAN has been charged with murder after an incident at Palm Island, north of Townsville.

Police were called to an address on Farm Road on Monday afternoon following reports of a stabbing.

A 52-year-old man was taken to Palm Island Hospital for treatment and then subsequently to Townsville Base Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 8.45pm.

A 19-year-old man has been charged with murder and is expected to appear at Townsville Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
