Man flees after allegedly punching 19yo in Mooloolaba

A MAN has been charged following a serious assault incident in Mooloolaba overnight.

Three men allegedly became involved in a verbal altercation in a carpark on Parkyn Parade just after midnight.

It will further be alleged, during the altercation one of the men punched another, causing a 19-year-old Pelican Waters man to lose consciousness and fall to the ground.

He received serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The man fled the scene but officers caught up with him along Parkyn Avenue.

A 22-year-old Shailer Park man has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and obstruct police.

He will appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on August 23.
